sandy hook elementary school has nearly 700 students. so quite a large number of students inside that school. just a little bit more background. school starts its day around 9:00 in the morning. according to the district exterior doors to the school are locked at 9:30 a.m. any visitors to the school are required to ring a doorbell and staff uses video to identify that person, jon, and to bring them into school or not. since the shooting happened at 9:30 according to reports, again a lot of questions yet to be answered in many reports we're trying to confirm. jon: fairfield county where this school is located is one of the wealthiest counties really in the entire country. this is close enough to new york city, 60 miles away or so, it is considered a bedroom community. there are certainly going to be a lot of parents there who commute into new york city. a lot of those parents are maybe just now finding out what has developed back in their hometown, some 60 miles away. there is going to be all kind of panic among parents trying to get back
